Several Wetherspoon pubs have ‘moon’ in their name, relating to The Moon Under Water – the name of the fictional perfect pub (in an article by George Orwell in the London Evening Standard) which served a wide range of beers and great food, yet without music or entertainment.
When the first Wetherspoon pub opened in 1979, it mirrored the style of George Orwell’s The Moon Under Water; Wetherspoon felt that ‘moon’ in the name of some pubs was a good link to the fictional one.

I tell the publican* that I'm relieved to see at last a place where Black Pudding Eaters are not welcome.
Then Paul whispers in my ear: The sign said "No Black Pudding Haters", not "Eaters", you fool.
As the publican starts reaching for something hidden below her counter, I look at her and say loudly: I was only joking of course - we love black pudding.
I tell him how I think Gordon Ramsay, a British TV chef, has so much more personality, charms and wits than a certain British chef who does artsy-fartsy molecular gimmickry that makes me long for a three course menu from Unmentionable Cuisine.
We move to another pub, a former coaching inn that has all the charm of a beer garden under the snow.

I am moved to declare that the Moon has been re-carpeted and re is right as it all looks tremendously similar.
She is surely the saint of the Moon's various thieves (my phone was nicked here c2005, a white and orange Nokia with a then innovative joystick-type feature.
The underlay is surely new, given the delightfully bouncing tread which raises the heel, much like BUZZ ALDRIN in his venture of 1969 upon another and less celebrated MOON, if indeed THAT occured (see CAPRICORN ONE with Elliot Gould and James Brolin with a winning cameo from TELLY SAVALAS as curmudgeonly crop dusting slaphead).
It may be TREDAIRE or similar top quality item.
Perhaps the original carpet has merely been vigorously washed with a VAX or similar electronic device like the ones you can trent from certain TESCO's?

On 24 September 2017, a group of Old Telfordians met up in London at the Lord Moon of the Mall pub on Whitehall.
“People who have known each other for over 30 years still make the effort to meet up!”
Most of the group graduated in 1979/80 and they try to get together every two years.

In the early 17th Century King James I began replacing the Tudor brick buildings with something more classical, but got no further than the construction of the ‘Banqueting House’ Oliver Cromwell moved into the Palace in 1654, and died there in 1658.
Work began in 1619 on this building designed by Inigo Jones for King James I.
In 1649, after spending his last night at St James Palace, King Charles I was led through one of the great windows in the Hall onto a scaffold and beheaded.
In 1660 the diarist Samuel Pepys watched the roof of the Banqueting House as King Charles II paraded in triumph along Whitehall after his ‘restoration’ to the throne.
When King James I succeed her in 1603, the park was an unsightly mess in front of his palace at Whitehall.
